Lost or Stolen CSCS Card? What to Do

The steps to replace a lost, stolen or damaged CSCS Card fast.

Losing your card is frustrating rather than serious - you do not need to re-sit anything, and your qualification and test pass are unaffected. What you do need is a replacement CSCS Card, and if the card was stolen there is one extra step to complete before you can order it.

Replacing your card in 3 steps

1

Report it if stolen

Contact the police and obtain a crime reference number. You will be asked for it as part of the replacement request.

2

Gather your details

You need your registration or card number if you have it, your name and date of birth as printed, and your current address.

3

Order the replacement

Submit the CSCS Card replacement request online. Replacement cards typically arrive within 5-7 working days.

Damaged rather than lost?

Cracked, delaminated or unreadable cards follow exactly the same replacement route. If the chip or photo cannot be read at the gate, treat it as lost and order a replacement rather than hoping it scans.

While you wait

Some sites will accept a digital record or written confirmation of your card while the replacement is in the post - ask your site manager before your next shift. If your card was also close to expiry, it is usually smarter to renew instead, and to check that your CITB Test pass is still within its two-year window.

Key takeaways

  • A stolen card needs a police crime reference number first.
  • Replacements arrive in 5-7 working days.
  • You never need to re-sit the CITB Test to replace a card.
